The meta aspect really removed me from the action. There’s self awareness and what I thought was pretty close to winking at the camera or doing an old fashioned Shakespeare aside. You win some, you lose some, I guess. Good effort, though.
I can definitely understand what you mean. It’s almost fourth wall breaking and prevents immersion in the story for sure. I think I glommed onto it because there wasn’t much else being offered narratively or emotionally.

That’s true too. I liked the idea of the machines getting better at crafting a Matrix playpen. Anderson is not
